It's not enough for a hospital to deliver babies. Childbirth also means delivering a new mom into the world — a person who is confident in her ability to care for a newborn infant.
That's why The Family Center of Capital Regional Medical Center is dedicated to providing comprehensive, family-centered maternity care. Through classes and information for parents-to-be and siblings, our caring staff helps prepare families for the changes ahead. And advanced technology and medical skill assure optimal care for both mother and newborn during their hospital stay.

Maternity Birthing Suites
At The Family Center, we have prepared an environment that will enrich the birth experience for you and your family. Our special Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms allow mother to stay in one room throughout the birth process, eliminating the need for multiple room transfers and enhancing continuity of care.
These beautifully decorated birthing suites provide a comforting atmosphere for expectant parents. Each suite includes a birthing bed, private bathroom with shower and jetted tub, television and a private sitting room for family members awaiting the arrival of their new addition. Yet within The Family Center's warm, home-like setting is the latest technology — assuring you and your baby the highest level of medical care.
A unique aspect of The Family Center is “Shared Care” — an innovation in childbirth care. Shared Care provides one nurse — for both mom and baby — who serves as a consistent, familiar and knowledgeable resource for medical care, instruction and guidance. The Family Center's Shared Care approach offers individualized attention and personal counseling. The result is reduced anxiety, enhanced bonding, and parents who know what to do to keep their new babies happy, healthy and safe.
During your hospital stay, your baby is welcome to be with you for as many hours a day as you choose so you and your family can enjoy getting to know each other. Grandparents, siblings and friends may also visit the baby in your room.
