Prepared Childbirth Classes are a 5 class series held at Capital Regional Medical Center. Topics will cover the following:

  • The signs of labor
  • The normal process of labor and birth
  • Techniques for coping with pain
  • How your partner can help you during labor
  • Pain relief options including breathing and relaxation techniques
  • When to call your doctor or midwife

In addition, we cover some of the more common childbirth complications and how to handle them:

  • We will show videos of both a vaginal birth and a C-section
  • We also teach the basics of breastfeeding and newborn care
  • A tour of the birthing facility
