(QUINCY, Fla.) - To celebrate National Lung Cancer and COPD Awareness Month, the Gadsden County Tobacco Free Partnership recognized the Capital Regional Medical Center - Gadsden Memorial Campus as a tobacco-free campus. Tobacco continues to be the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and produces undue economic and social burden. That is why it is imperative for our hospitals and healthcare professionals to lead the way in strengthening and enforcing tobacco free work environments.

“Capital Regional Medical Center is committed to the health of our region and that begins with our employees,” responded Mr. Wethington, Chief Executive Officer of Capital Regional Medical Center.  “When we introduced our tobacco-free policy at our main campus and the Gadsden Memorial Campus, we coupled it with multiple cessation treatment options that are made available to our employees.  If we can help them live a healthier life, we can greatly impact the health of our region, as well.”

The Gadsden County Tobacco Free Partnership held a ceremony recognizing Mr. Wethington and the hospital’s staff at the Capital Regional Medical Center Gadsden Memorial Campus today.
